I’ll Drink (Wine) To That!

So, I turn 25 this year and one of my “adult” goals to become more of a wine aficionado. I mean, a girl can only try and order sweet riesling so many times before people think she’s A) a total amateur or B) a total weirdo. I’ve been looking for an intimate wine tasting event, and it looks like I’ve come across one for a good cause (of course)!

On Wednesday, July 30th, the Young Executives for Success or Y.E.S! Chicago, the young professionals group for Dress for Success Chicago, will host their summer wine tasting event, Summer Sipping. The event will take place at Juicy Wine Company (694 N. Milwaukee Ave) and will last from 7-9p.

Tickets are $35 for Y.E.S! members and $40 for non-members, and it includes a tasting of over 20 summer wines and a tasting of some appetizers. Guests will have the opportunity to learn a thing or two from Alpana Singh, author of Alpana Pours, and someone who definitely knows her wine!

Beta Boutique Gives Back x 2!

This month, Beta Boutique, Chicago’s first and only permanent sample sale, will be showcasing its charitable yet fashionable side with two events focused on fabulous giving!

On Thursday July 17th, StyleChicago.com, Beta Boutique and Go Red for Women are teaming up to bring Chicago fashionistas a designer sample sale and cocktail party at the Bucktown store location (2016 W. Concord Place). Now, when I say sample sale, I’m talking up to 90% off in some instances!!! If that’s not enough for you, attendees will also be treated to wine, sushi, dessert, AND fabulous goodie bags filled with samples and gift certificates (wow).

Also, Beta Boutique will be hosting their “Dog Days of Summer” event from July 24-27. Stop in the store, buy some great summer merchandise at great prices, and a portion of the sales will benefit Chicago’s own P.A.W.S. (Pets Are Worth Saving) organization. As a new pet owner (Hi, Mink!), I must say that this is quite appealing, and may cause me to break my recent vow of poverty. I mean, if it’s for the kitties and puppies…Right?
