Chicago Football Classic 2008

Well, folks, football season is definitely around the corner, which I absolutely love! Between the Bears and the ILLINI, my Saturdays and Sundays stay packed beginning Labor Day weekend. Now, I can add another event to the mix! For the 11th straight year, Chicago will play host to the Chicago Football Classic from Thursday Sept. 4th – Saturday Sept. 6th. The weekend festivities include a Presidents’ Reception, Golf Outing, College Fair, a Battle of the Bands, and of course, the BIG game. On September 6th, the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets will face off against the Central State Marauders at Soldier Field at 4p.

The CFC was started eleven years ago after local businessmen needed an outlet to bring awareness to their Adopt-a-School scholarship program. The CFC encourages high school students to pursue higher education while also bringing awareness to the programs offered at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In addition to the Adopt-A-School program, the competing schools will be donating scholarships for selected students.

We all know how important (and expensive) a college education is these days, so let’s do something good for the youth and keep them in the books. The children are our future…for real! For more information on the Classic and ticket information, please visit the official website.

P.S. I have to shout out my FF, E’Ron, for giving me the background on the Classic. His company designed the site and he is working hard behind the scenes to make this great event happen. Good work, E!

It was one of the best put together classic games yet but the change at half time had the crowed upset to say the least. Why no half time show. Next year they got to make sure that both bands are tight. Thats the reason the crowd comes the bands! WVSU band was horrible. But it was a great game
