Valentine Hugs and Kisses to Save The Children!

30 01 2009

This morning on The View, actress Julianne Moore stopped by to talk about the special edition Valentine’s Day cards being developed and sold to benefit Save the Children. So, of course, I had to check out the website and view all the cards for myself. They are sooo freaking cute! And, I’m not a big believer in Valentine’s Day at all. Well, let me take that back. I believe in doing cutesy stuff for my family/friends but don’t feel the pressure to spend it with a romantic partner. Does that make sense?

Anyways, for $25 you can purchase 28 cards, either designed by contemporary artists or by children.

Contemporary Designs:

VDAY Contemporary

Children’s Designs:

VDAY Children

These cards would make a perfect gift for a friend, or you could buy them yourself and give them out to all your favorite folks! All orders must be received by February 4th. For more information on Save the Children’s Valentine’s Day shop, click here.

Want To Use Your Business Prowess For Good?

28 01 2009

After a long search in the nonprofit sector, I’ve decided that my professional interests (such as, the use of new media in communications) may be better utilized in the area of public affairs/relations. However, I still have an urge to channel my business background in an avenue which significantly contributes to a better society.

But, what if my new employer doesn’t put a great emphasis on charitable giving or volunteerism? Well, luckily for me, there’s the Taproot Foundation

Twitter Connects People and Raises Money

28 01 2009

Are any of you guys Tweeters out there? I joined less than a month ago and am completely obsessed at this point! If you like to read others’ FB status messages, then Twitter is your place! In addition to friends and bloggers, many businesses use the site to spread news/info about their product/services, which is genius in my opinion!

As Twitter continues to grow, the many uses continue to grow. On February 12th, there will be a worldwide Twestival to raise money and awareness for charity: water. The idea is pretty simple…A group of Tweeters use the site to organize an offsite meet-up complete with drinks and entertainment, all the while raising money for a cause.

If you’re looking for your city, head on over to for a listing of the 100+ cities and the respective point person (listed by their Twitter handle, obviously).

Charity: water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations by funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need. Charity: water reports that unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.

Jump on the site and get to giving!
