It’s All About the Glam

4 08 2009

The Boys and Girls Club of Chicago (BGCC) serves over 13,000 children and teens across the city of Chicago in after-school programs and summer camps. Children and parents have access to 32 clubs across the city. Organizations like these are so important because children need safe play havens to learn, socialize, and just be young!

On Friday, August 7th, the Good Glam Gala will combine fashion, shopping and philanthropy as the event raised money for the BGCC. Attendess will watch a live fashion show featuring the designs of Kate Boggiano and Objets d’Envy jewelry. The glamorous event, held at a stylish Pilsen warehouse (2150 S. Canal), will kickoff at 7p. Tickets are $50, and can be purchased at

Giving Back While Throwing Down

3 06 2009

Patio at Zella

Patio at Zella

I absolutely love the official description of the Stimulus Social Club!

Stimulus Social Club is a network of socially conscious professionals in the Chicago area who choose to give back while throwing down!

Giving back…Throwing down? Um, sign me up! Every first Wednesday, hundreds of Chicago professionals gather at a local hotspot for networking, drinks, and fundraising. Tonight, the group will gather at Zella (1983 N. Clybourn) from 6:30-9p. The selected beneficiary? The Valentine’s Boys and Girls Club, located in the Bridgeport neighborhood. If you’re interested in attending, send an email to!

The suggested donation is $10, and includes a complimentary drink and appetizers! You can learn more by visiting their website!

Philanthropist Boutique = Best of Both Worlds!

14 01 2009

Most of the stores/sales that I feature on here donate a portion of their proceeds to a charity of their choosing. But, imagine a store that donated 100% of proceeds to a nonprofit! Impossible? Not really says the ladies of Philanthropist Boutique, a San Francisco shop, which opened in September. The large open space which houses the boutique carries designers ranging from Vera Wang and Rachel Roy, to Alice + Olivia and Catherine Malandrino

Every season, Philanthropist plans to donate the proceeds to a different nonprofit organization. The Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco will be the recipient of the proceeds from January-March. Each season, the boutique and the nonprofit host a kickoff event and on this night, the owner, Jessica, matches the funds raised with a personal donation!

This store really epitomizes the essence of this blog…Inspired giving can be stylish and chic. There’s no need to sacrifice one for the other! Jessica tells me that the “customers are telling us if they’re going to shop anywhere, it’s going to be Philanthropist because they know their money is going toward a great cause.”

Love it!

Note: The website will fully launch in Spring 2009, so be sure to check back then!!! But, in the meantime, you can find your basic contact information on there!

Black Sunday at AKIRA!

25 11 2008

Our favorite Chicago boutique (okay…mine) is at it again! On Sunday, 11/30, AKIRA Women (1814 W. North Avenue) will host its Black Sunday event from 7-9p. Shoppers will be treated to a hosted bar, a live DJ, AND 10% off merchandise!

Partial proceeds from Sunday’s event will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Chicago. Whoo hoo! Head on over and get some good party dresses for the holiday season!

My friend, Shana, and I were JUST talking about responsible shopping, and AKIRA is seriously testing my willpower. Sigh…I don’t know what to do. Especially since I’m still searching for my perfect nonprofit job (I’ll update you all on that one later)!

Anyways, I’m stuck…but I’m going on Sunday. Just to look though!
